My Inspiration: Colleen Jordan of Wearable Planter

As you know, inspiration is one of our most important philosophies here at Fab. We asked designer Colleen Jordan, who lives in Atlanta and makes the adorable plant necklaces currently available here, to share some of the things that inspire her work.

Colleen’s Studio

This is a view of my studio. It’s really small, but it’s the perfect size for me. The building was an old church until about five years ago, and my studio was a music classroom before I moved in. I kept the piano bench; it ended up being the perfect work bench.

Atlanta Botanical Garden

I love going to the Atlanta Botanical Garden whenever I need a little bit of inspiration. This picture was taken in one of the tropical plant greenhouses. I like going in the winter, because I can walk into the greenhouses with the tropical plants and the birds they have roaming around, and pretend that I’m on vacation somewhere warm.

Mold

I find some of the gross things in life really fascinating. I saw this mold on the bottom of a glass that got forgotten about. At first I was repelled by it, but I had to take out my camera and snap a photo—the colors look great together.

Paintings by Patricia Bell

I’m really lucky to have creative friends to bounce ideas around with . My roommate Patricia paints as a hobby, and these are some of the paintings of hers that I see every day.

Bubbles

I’ve been traveling a lot over the past month, and observing people in new cities is one of my favorite things to do as I go from place to place. I saw this guy on the street just blowing bubbles on a gross, windy afternoon. It definitely made my day feel warmer.

Gorilla King

I took this picture on the side of an abandoned building near my apartment. I’m always amazed to see the art and tags that mysteriously creep onto the walls of forgotten buildings.
