New York has always been a mecca of diversity—especially when it comes to food. With your Instagram feed—obviously the natural platform to share your food memories—teeming with pics from the latest romp at a local macaron parlor and street-island food parks catering to the city’s most experimental palates, settling is not an option when the city is your proverbial food oyster.
We are constantly at war with our palates when it comes to cuisine selection (heck, I’m frustrated and confused on Seamless as we speak)! Even more a topic of debate? Ice cream. Ah yes, the dairy-laden treat that lives in our daydreams, all the while still the source of childhood nostalgia and summers on the beach. This frozen phenomenon has been refined, remastered, and, in our humble opinions, made all the more enjoyable over the last few steamy seasons. We get how hard it can be to pick a flavor—that’s what those tiny taster spoons are for!—so we hit the streets to compile a shortlist of our favorite new NYC ice cream flavors. This list makes choosing simple—even if the flavors aren’t.
From Dominique Ansel Kitchen: Burrata Soft Serve (you read that right!) drizzled with balsamic caramel, micro basil and a whole confit strawberry inside the honey tuile cone.
Morgenstern’s flavor roster runs the gamut from cardamom-lemon jam to salt & pepper pine nut—but we can’t stop thinking about the I Am A God Croissantwich, above, with vanilla ice cream stuffed into a freshly baked croissant. It’s a special through 6/12 for the ice cream parlor’s Kanye West Week (also featured: The Kim Kardashian Thirst Trap Sundae and the All Day Vanilla Ice Cream Cake)
The Kitchen Sink by Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is brimful of chunks of honeycomb and malted meringue, swirled with fudge and caramel—an artisanal celebration of American decadence.
Ample Hills in Brooklyn paired up with Baked to turn the iconic NY Black and White Cookie into an ice cream sandwich this summer.
Preeeetttty psyched for this Dulce De Leche softserve by Big Gay Ice Cream. Their Salty Pimp is the stuff of dreams, too!
Amorino will make you a gelato flower. A flower you can eat. Yes indeed.
Pink lemonade soft serve at Momofuku Milk Bar.
Beet and yogurt ice cream make a tangy, vegetal pair at Il Laboratorio del Gelato.
Drooling all over your keyboard? Yeah, us too. Show your love for summer’s tastiest treat with ice cream-themed goodies at Fab.
