There’s a lot to consider when you’re planning a wedding. What season do we want to be married in? What type of space do we want to celebrate in? Just how many family members can we get away with not inviting? That’s just a few of the many, many moving parts you’ll have to deal with, all so you can throw a kickass party for your family and friends. And, you know, to celebrate your newly minted union.
While most of the decisions you’ll make will happen with other people at least partially in mind, there’s one area that is exclusively for the happy couple: the registry. It’s your chance to fill your home with essentials you’ll need for you and your new family, and an opportunity to add some fun accents to a space you’ll share with the one you love most.
To get started, log in to your Fab account, then click on the word Registry at the top of the Fab homepage (or in the categories section of the Fab app). You’ll then land on a page that asks for your to select an event type, give the registry a name, and add a date for the event (if you have that set). Click Next and you’ll be asked to select a shipping destination for your goodies. From there you’re all set to add anything you’d like to the registry!
There’s a few ways to add items to your registry. If you click the ‘add items’ button on your registry dashboard, you’ll be redirected to a new page with lists containing Your Favorites and Our Suggestions for you. The Your Favorites section is a compilation of items from lists you’ve created, as well as items you’ve purchased in the past. The Our Suggestions section is informed by your lists and purchase history, and is there to steer you in the direction of some fun and exciting home decor you might not stumble upon on your own. You’ll see suggestions across different categories, which we hope makes selecting your favorites bit less chaotic.
Once an item is added to your registry you can prioritize it with a little green flag to let your friends and family know what’s at the top of your list. This way, when someone needs to make the unbearably difficult choice between those dinner plates and that dick pillow they’ll have some guiding light to look to. Priorities!
Once your registry is ready for the rest of the world to see, click the Share button to set how you’d like to broadcast your list to the world. You’ll have options to post to Facebook or Twitter, to email, or you can grab a direct link you can share with friends or post on a wedding website if you’ve put one together. If you’ll be sharing the URL, take care to adjust the privacy setting to either Shared or Public so those you share it with can access it.
That’s pretty much it! You can check back on your registry to see what has been purchased and by whom, and you can make edits to every aspect of your registry from the Manage Settings tab, and you can remove items by clicking the small red X you’ll see when you hover over an item from the registry dashboard.
